My research interests fall under three primary areas: (1) nonverbal communication and person perception, (2) emotion and aging, and (3) 3D immersive environments and social interaction. Much of my research involves "thin-slices," which are brief video clips of social interactions. I study these thin slices to understand how emotions, personality, and nonverbal behavior shape social outcomes. I also have an interest in meta-analysis as a method to distill overall effects of social phenomena.

Primary Interests:

  • Emotion, Mood, Affect
  • Internet and Virtual Psychology
  • Interpersonal Processes
  • Nonverbal Behavior
  • Person Perception
